Description

The Beaver Copper Pom Necklace pairs genuine wild Yukon beaver fur with a warm copper-toned cone in the original Legacy design that launched our fur jewelry collection. A dimensional hand-stitched fur pom is nestled into the cone and finished with three 3 mm beads, creating a richly textured pendant that showcases beaver’s exceptionally dense, tactile fur.

Beaver’s plush underfur and distinctive longer guard hairs give the compact pom beautiful volume and dimension, making every necklace naturally unique.

Our Legacy Copper Cone story

The Copper Cone was the first design in our fur jewelry collection and remains a signature Vanessa Aegirsdottir Co. style.

Created to honour the copper cones used in Tlingit regalia, the design reflects copper’s longstanding significance in Tlingit culture. Before contact with settlers, Tlingit people collected and warm-forged copper into shields called tina’a, which represented wealth and were used in trade. In contemporary regalia, copper cones may be fastened to fringe, creating a distinctive tinkling sound as they strike together during dancing.

Why beaver

Beaver is associated with hard work, persistence, resourcefulness and determination. A remarkable builder that transforms its environment through sustained effort, beaver is a natural symbol of industriousness and perseverance.

Choose beaver because those qualities resonate with you, because they describe someone you’re gifting the necklace to, or simply because you love its exceptionally plush, tactile fur.

Your necklace will be uniquely yours

Just like natural gemstones, wild fur varies from piece to piece. The necklace you receive will not be identical to the one photographed.

Beaver has extraordinarily dense, soft underfur beneath longer protective guard hairs. One necklace may appear particularly plush and compact, while another may have more prominent guard hairs. Colour, density, fur length and texture naturally vary between animals and across different areas of the pelt.

These differences are part of the beauty of working with a genuine natural material rather than flaws or inconsistencies.

Every necklace is made with wild Yukon beaver fur purchased directly from Indigenous trappers. We use wild fur only, never farmed.
